Dental practice marketing case study: what the practice’s advertising looked like before adsfox

The story of Maria, whose practice started seeing fewer and fewer patients after a large dental chain moved in nearby.

Starting point

Maria had run a successful dental practice for more than a decade. She was known in the local community for high-quality care and a friendly approach to patients. The practice was in demand, which allowed her to grow steadily and invest in modern equipment. Things changed when a location of a large dental chain opened nearby. Month after month, Maria saw a drop in new patients, which affected the practice’s financial stability. At the same time, overhead was rising: the hygienist’s and receptionist’s wages, and utility costs.

Facing these challenges, Maria started thinking about how to advertise effectively online. She considered various ways of marketing a dental practice, but she lacked the knowledge and experience in online marketing. She knew she needed professional help to keep up with the growing competition and attract new patients.

Maria urgently needed an effective solution that would let her keep bringing in new patients and stay financially stable. She was looking for ways to promote her dental services, and she decided to turn to specialists in dental marketing.

First contact with adsfox

Motivated to make a change, Maria found adsfox while searching on Google.

After clicking the ad and browsing the website, she decided it was worth seeing what was possible and booked a no-obligation consultation, hoping for a useful conversation rather than a pure sales pitch.

Free marketing consultation

During the consultation, the specialist noticed that the practice’s website was outdated and had not been maintained, so the client was referred to an adsfox partner, who built a new website in two weeks. She also had a neglected Google Business Profile, and she had no experience with online marketing at all.

During the conversation, Maria learned how important a modern, responsive website is, and how the effectiveness of a dental practice’s advertising can be increased by ranking it properly. The adsfox specialist explained that the website is the practice’s storefront online and should also be optimized so potential patients can easily find it in search results.

What convinced Maria

What convinced Maria was the option of working together without being locked into any contract; she felt she was not risking much.

Maria chose the basic Facebook Ads and Google Ads management package, deciding that the practice’s receptionist, working with adsfox, would take responsibility for creating social media content and coordinating with the specialist from our agency.

After talking with our specialists (looking at the dental industry and at Maria’s needs and resources, especially her time), the ad budget was set at about $500 a month.

adsfox’s strategy assumed a 70:30 split of the ad budget between Google Ads and social media campaigns, with an emphasis on acquiring local customers who had never been patients of the practice. The goal was not only to increase the number of new patients, but also to build long-term relationships with the local community.

What we implemented before the campaign launch

Within two weeks, a trusted adsfox partner built a new, well-optimized website for Maria’s dental practice. Today this is part of our own web design agency offer.

First we improved the Google Business Profile, then linked it to the Google Ads account. Next, together with the website partner, we set up Google Search Console for Maria (so the practice’s new website would be indexed by Google faster).

Implementing advanced analytics

Then we carried out a full Google Analytics 4 configuration. (Remember, GA4 configuration does not end with installing the tracking code; that is where it begins. At adsfox, a GA4 setup includes more than a dozen elements.) In Maria’s case, we also had to program custom events for form submissions and clicks on the phone number answered by the receptionist.

If you want to know what a full Google Analytics 4 configuration includes, see our Google Analytics guides.

Next, Facebook Pixel events were configured, also measuring interactions with the form and the phone number.

(Here is the list of standard Meta events that adsfox specialists use, with a description of each event. Remember: without this in place, it is a waste to spend even a single dollar on Facebook or Instagram ads.)

Thanks to Google Analytics 4 and the Facebook Pixel, we could precisely track user behavior on the practice’s website and build the right audiences.

Results of the dental practice’s Google Ads and Facebook ads

The combination of SEO, paid search and social media ads quickly filled Maria’s dental practice with patients, restoring its former position in the market.

For Maria, a phone or contact form inquiry on the practice’s website costs about $2 on average, and a budget of about $500 a month proved sufficient to keep the schedule 100% full (with no waiting for patients).

As part of the adsfox strategy, we put a lot of weight on social media ad campaigns. Social media became an essential part of the practice’s dental marketing. Visually appealing posts and engaging content built a strong presence for Maria’s practice in the local community.

Thanks to effective online advertising, Maria was able to attract new patients and regain the practice’s financial stability. The modern dental marketing methods adsfox applied, such as local SEO for dental practices and online advertising for dental services, turned out to be the key to success.

What’s next for Maria’s practice

Thanks to effective marketing and advertising, Maria regained the practice’s financial stability. However, to keep up with the growing demand for dental services, she is now considering several strategic steps to grow further and strengthen her position in the local market.

Buying a second dental chair

The first step Maria plans is purchasing a second dental chair. Effective online marketing of dental services led to a significant increase in patients, and the practice’s current capacity is no longer enough. A new chair will allow more patients to be treated at the same time, which in turn will increase revenue. An additional chair also makes it possible to offer a wider range of services, which can attract new patients.

Hiring another dentist

Expanding the practice’s capacity is not only about equipment, but also about people. Maria plans to hire another dentist to keep up with the growing demand. Advertising and intensive marketing have made the practice far more recognizable, bringing in many new patients. Hiring a new specialist will shorten wait times and raise the quality of patient care.

Further marketing

Maria understands that regular marketing is the key to maintaining her market position. So she plans to continue working with adsfox and develop her advertising strategy. This will include stepping up Google Ads campaigns to reach an even wider group of potential patients. Dental marketing will also support the launch of new services and promote the practice as a modern, patient-friendly office.

In the context of healthcare marketing, Maria also plans to invest in content marketing, publishing articles and tips on oral hygiene and dental health. The goal is not only to educate patients, but also to build trust and an expert position in the dental market.

New ad channels

To reach younger patients, Maria is also considering new ad channels, such as advertising the practice on TikTok. Although the platform is mainly associated with entertainment, more and more businesses see its potential for promoting services. Short, engaging videos can capture the attention of a younger audience that may not yet use dental services regularly.

A stronger social media presence

The practice’s further growth will be supported by a stronger social media presence. Activity on Facebook, Instagram and newly added TikTok will build closer relationships with patients and keep them engaged. Regular content such as oral health tips, news about the practice’s services and coverage of events will reinforce the practice’s image as a modern, professional office.

Expanding services and promotional offers

With patient numbers growing, Maria also plans to expand the practice’s services. Introducing modern dental and orthodontic treatments will attract an even wider group of patients. Advertising for dental and orthodontic clinics will become a key element in promoting the new services. Periodic promotional offers are also planned, communicated through online and social media ad campaigns.

Summary of the engagement

Thanks to effective online advertising and advanced marketing strategies, Maria not only regained her practice’s financial stability, but is also preparing for further growth and expansion. Continuing to work with adsfox, investing in modern technology and growing the team are the key elements that will let her keep up with the growing demand for dental services and maintain a strong position in the local market.

Who is Maria?

Because our clients value their privacy and are often “reluctant to share results with competitors”, we publish only what clients authorize in writing. We also promised Maria that we would not take on clients from her immediate area.

We are convinced, though, that dry agency case studies are not enough.

That is why we sometimes record interviews with adsfox clients to show honest, real opinions from satisfied customers.

In our view, these opinions are the most convincing proof of our effectiveness, and we encourage you to watch them.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about Case Studies

In this case, the ad budget was about $500 a month, and that was enough to keep the practice's schedule full. The amount depends on the city, competition and range of services, so we set the budget individually after a conversation. On top of the media budget there is the campaign management fee.
Maria started with about $500 a month, and that level proved sufficient for a single practice serving a local market. With more competition or a wider service area, the amount goes up. We always start by checking what it really costs to reach a patient in a given region.
In this case study the budget was split 70:30 between Google Ads and social media campaigns. Google Ads captured patients actively searching for a dentist, while Facebook and Instagram built recognition in the local community. We also improved the Google Business Profile and linked it to the Google Ads account.
Yes, provided analytics are set up correctly. For Maria's practice we configured Google Analytics 4 with custom events for form submissions and phone number clicks, and the Facebook Pixel tracked the same events. That is how we know a phone or form inquiry cost about $2 on average.
The foundation is a current, responsive website and a complete Google Business Profile. Maria's website was outdated, so an adsfox partner built a new one in two weeks, and we improved the Business Profile and set up Google Search Console, Google Analytics 4 and the Facebook Pixel. Without event tracking, spending an ad budget makes no sense.
The technical preparation alone, including building the new website, took about two weeks in this case. Once the campaigns launched, the practice quickly filled up with patients, and the results screenshot covers 30 days of activity. The pace depends on the state of the website, the Business Profile and local competition.
