How to Set Up Google Analytics 4 from Scratch

If you are setting up Google Analytics tracking for the first time and want to create a Google Analytics 4 property for your website, follow the steps below.
How to set up GA4 for the first time
1. Go to https://analytics.google.com/ and sign in with your Google account.
2. Click Start measuring.
3. Enter an account name, usually the name of your business.
4. Check the data-sharing settings you agree to and click Next.
5. Enter a property name, usually your website address, for example: yourwebsite.com
6. Choose the reporting time zone and currency.
Click Next.
7. Select your industry category and business size.
8. Check the options that match how you plan to use Google Analytics.
Click Create.
9. In the window that appears, pick your country from the list and accept the data processing terms. For users in the EU this includes the GDPR terms; US businesses should also keep state privacy laws such as CCPA in mind when deciding what data they collect.
10. Accept the second consent, the Measurement Controller-Controller Data Protection Terms between Google and account owners for the data you share with Google, and click I Accept.
11. If you want, choose which emails you would like to receive from Google and click Save.
That is it: you have created a new Google Analytics 4 property from scratch.
You can get to know the platform using the interactive walkthrough widget.
Creating the property is only the beginning. For GA4 to show real campaign results, you still need to add a data stream and the tag on your site, set up events, mark key events (conversions) and link your ad accounts.
