How to Tag Leads in adsfox for Optimized Ad Campaigns

Tagging leads is crucial for advertising systems because based on this data, algorithms learn who is worth displaying ads to and who is not. The value assigned to leads should not reflect the value of the entire contract, as we tag leads at an early stage, and sales processes in the service industry can last even several weeks. In practice, this means that actual revenues will not reach the advertising system during the conversion attribution window.

Facebook and Google most often recognize conversions within seven days of clicking the ad, so it is during this time that leads should be assigned the appropriate status. To utilize the full potential of campaign optimization, it is worth adopting a generalized, preliminary valuation of leads based on early signals, even before the sales process is completed.

Lead tagging is the core of adsfox lead generation optimization: every tag teaches Google and Meta which leads are worth finding again.

Knowing the conversion rate (i.e., the number of valuable leads needed to acquire one client) and the average revenue from one sale, we can determine the “value” of a qualified lead. For example, if out of ten valuable contacts two decide to purchase, and the average revenue is 4,000 PLN, then the approximate value of a “qualified lead” is:

4,000 PLN × 2 / 10 = 800 PLN.

The data is indicative and serves solely for optimizing advertising campaigns and drawing conclusions from conducted activities.

adsfox is a lead generation optimization tool that helps users integrate their CRM systems with ad platforms like Meta, Google, LinkedIn, and TikTok. It enables companies to track leads, optimize campaigns, and improve sales without increasing their ad budget.

Rules for Tagging Leads

Tagging Only the First Contact

  • If the same person fills out the form multiple times, we consider only the first contact as “qualified.” Subsequent submissions do not change the status, except when the lead was previously classified as “unqualified.” Then subsequent submissions may again receive the “unqualified” status.
  • Avoiding multiple tagging of the same person as “qualified” with value minimizes the risk of inflating the total value assigned to one user.

Example Statuses in the adsfox System
Unqualified
■ Lead is spam (e.g., incorrect data).

■ Lead is not aware of what they are signing up for.

■ Lead thinks they are signing up for a different offer than ours.
Qualified
■ Lead provided complete and correct contact details but has not taken further actions yet – approximate values: 20 PLN.

■ Lead showed interest in the offer and scheduled a meeting or call – approximate values: 80 PLN.

■ Lead moved to the implementation stage or starting cooperation – approximate values: 100 PLN.

■ Lead showed high business potential (e.g., high budget, long-term cooperation) approximate values: 300 PLN.

All the above statuses are assigned directly after the first contact, not only after the consultation. However, if we fit within the 7-day conversion window, these values can also be assigned at later stages.

Key Questions and Calculations

● Auxiliary Question:

“What value does an initial contact with a potential client have for you, if at this stage there is no certainty yet that it will end in a purchase?”

Such a question allows determining realistic assumptions regarding the conversion rate and average transaction value.

● Calculating Qualified Lead Value:

  1. Determine the conversion rate – establish how many valuable leads typically lead to one sale (e.g., 10 leads → 2 transactions = 20% conversion).

  2. Calculate the average revenue from one transaction (e.g., 4,000 PLN).

  3. Divide the average revenue by the number of valuable leads per one sale:
    Example: 4,000 PLN × 2 / 10 = 800 PLN.

● Campaign Optimization for Qualified Lead:

For campaigns to effectively optimize for the Qualified Lead event, the advertising system must receive information about lead qualification within a maximum of 7 days from the moment of clicking the ad. Thanks to this, Facebook and Google Ads algorithms can learn to recognize users with similar characteristics and increase the effectiveness of actions.

● Practical Tip:

In the case of generating at least 5 valuable leads daily, it is possible to conduct campaign optimization directly for the Qualified Lead goal. The number of such leads is crucial for the speed and precision of the optimization process.

Assigning Lead Source

The lead source is registered only when the form was sent during a session started after clicking the ad. However, if the user clicked the ad within the applicable attribution window (e.g., within 7 days), and filled out the form at a later date, this event will still be assigned by the Google or Meta system, provided the user is correctly identified as a person who previously had contact with the company’s ad.

Meta Ads (Facebook & Instagram) – Standard Attribution Window:

● Default Setting (from 2021):

7 days after click (click)

1 day after view (view-through)

● Other Possible Settings (can be changed in Ads Manager for a specific campaign):

○ 7 days click

○ 1 day click + 1 day view

○ 7 days click + 1 day view

● Default (for most campaigns, e.g., Search, Performance Max):

30 days after click

(for search and shopping campaigns)

● Attribution window can be set in the range:

○ from 1 day to 90 days after click

● Additionally:

○ View-through (only for Display, YouTube, etc.): standard 1 day after view (without click).
