FAQ

FAQ: adding users to Google Tag Manager

Sign in to tagmanager.google.com, open Admin, then User Management on the account level. Click the plus button, choose Add users, enter the agency's email address and set container permissions. Send the invitation and the agency accepts it from their Google account.
For an agency that sets up tracking for you, choose Administrator on the account (so they can manage users if needed) and Publish on the container, which allows them to create, edit and publish tags. If you prefer to approve every change yourself, give them Edit or Approve instead of Publish.
The person or agency who originally added Tag Manager to your website owns the account. Ask them to add your Google account as an Administrator. If they are gone and unreachable, you may need to create a new container and replace the snippet on your site.
No. Tag Manager and Google Analytics have separate user management. If the agency also needs to configure GA4 events and conversions, add them in GA4 under Admin, Property access management, as well.
